Reiki Treatment FAQ

  • Reiki, meaning universal life energy, is the energy that surrounds us and animates life. Once it’s ignited, Reiki can be applied in order to relieve pain and support and accelerate healing of the mind, body, and spirit. Numerous health practitioners and institutions, including Johns Hopkins Medicine, offer Reiki patient services.

  • The purpose of a Reiki session is to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. It is not a replacement for conventional medical treatment but is often used as a complementary practice to support overall health and well-being.

  • During a Reiki session, the recipient typically lies down fully clothed, and the practitioner places their hands gently on or near various parts of the body. The practitioner then channels positive energy, also known as "ki" or "chi," to help remove energy blockages and promote balance in the recipient's energy centers, often referred to as chakras.

  • Whether you seek stress relief, emotional healing, pain management, or a profound sense of tranquility, our 60-minute Reiki treatment offers a sacred space for you to support your well-being.

  • Reiki is known for its ability to invoke deep relaxation. Otherwise, everyone’s Reiki experience is different. You will lay on a massage table in comfortable clothing as your Reiki practitioner performs a variety of hand positions on your head and torso (touchless Reiki is available). Many people find the experience meditative; however, you are encouraged to ask questions or share your thoughts during the treatment.

  • Yes. Prenatal Reiki is a beautiful way to support the relationship between mother and child. Prenatal Reiki is performed similarly to other Reiki treatments with focus placed upon keeping mother and child comfortable. As a result, the expectant mother will remain on her back. Support under the knees and torso are often used, especially in third trimester pregnancies.

  • Andrea has studied under Reiki masters Amy Erez and Shellee Rae. She is a Master Reiki Practitioner in the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition. She came to the practice due to a strong calling to support her health in a gentle yet transformative way.

  • Yes. Reiki is appropriate for everyone, even our furry, feathered, or scaled friends. Andrea’s dogs, Pepper and Rosie, receive Reiki every day. She has also given Reiki to cats, plants, and gives treatments to horses at a horse rescue. Reiki can help animals with the same issues as people, including anxiety and pain. Since Reiki is gentle and does not interfere with medicine, it can be used in conjunction with conventional veterinary medicine and other healing modalities.
